Today on the Hearts Unleashed blog we are sharing one of our readers testimony. Thank you to Korie Rowe for allowing us to share her story here!!
One day I learned my dad was not my dad. My dad was my stepdad and my biological dad was a man I never met. I was 8 years old. At 8 years old I had already gone through more pain than many adults. I watched my mom be beaten constantly but said she was happy with her life. I watched my brother and sister being raised in a world of pain but said they were fine. I only knew a dad who used me in disgusting ways and said it was love. The good days were days of moving to a new town and feeling like we could start over only to have it become the same. Suddenly I was told there was someone else who could have saved me from all of that. One day I sat outside in my nanny’s yard talking to God. A God at the time I only knew from Sunday school and a God I felt was more of a story than a person. As I spoke to Him, tears rolling down my cheeks I began to ask the question. Who IS my daddy?
Is my daddy the man who abandoned me and my mom when I was conceived? Is my daddy the man who shows love in the scariest ways? Who is my daddy? More than anything at that moment of anger and heartbreak I realized how much I really wanted to be loved. I wanted a real Father. One that would protect me and teach me how to overcome this harsh world. I was only 8 years old but I knew there had to be someone who loved me that much.
I got up off the ground. Walked to my nanny’s door. She opened it with tears streaming down her face. She did not know what I was doing or who I was speaking to. As she opened the door she said she had been praying for me while I was outside. She grabbed my hand and asked me if I wanted to meet Jesus.
I was not completely sure what she meant. I knew Jesus. But at the same time when she said that I realized. I did not KNOW Jesus.
At that moment she told me of a man who was God. He gave up all of His riches, all of His power to live on earth and feel the same pain I felt. This man lived a life as a carpenter. A hard laboring life that gave Him little respect from others or popularity. After years of living a sinless life He was beaten and tortured. He then died. She told me how He did all of this for me. Because He loves me.
3 days after, Jesus Christ, rose from the grave. He proved to us all He is love. He is life. The most incredible moment in my life was when I was 8 years old. It was the moment I understood that was real love. And that was the moment I met Jesus. He introduced me to my Daddy. All we have to do is believe He is who He is and our entire world changes.
John 3:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
This is my life testimony. I am ashamed of many things in my life. But knowing Him is not one of them.
❤️This is my Easter Victory❤️
